We are based in the village of Fanore on the north west coast of the Burren, County Clare, Ireland.

Burren National Park
The Burren National Park is located in the southeastern corner of the Burren and is approximately 1500 hectares in size. The Park land was bought by the Government for nature conservation and public access. It contains examples of all the major habitats within the Burren: Limestone Pavement, Calcareous grassland, Hazel scrub, Ash/hazel woodland, Turloughs, Lakes, Petrifying springs, cliffs and Fen.

Burren and Cliffs of Moher Global Geopark
The Burren and Cliffs of Moher Global Geopark is a member of the UNESCO-supported Global and European Geoparks Network.

In 2011, the Geopark award was granted to the Burren and Cliffs of Moher region in recognition for the established network of specific sites of geological interest, (geosites) the existing Burren Ecotourism Network, and association of education and conservation organisations – and a very busy annual calendar of community-based events and activities.

The Tourist Information Point is located at the Visitor Centre at the rear of The Village Stores. Staff are trained to deal with tourist queries and have knowledge and experience to provide both domestic, and international visitors to the Burren, with a high quality service of information so that they can obtain a greater experience of this unique area. A large range of literature, maps and suggested walks in the Burren is available. In addition, for walkers, a “pick up” and “drop off” service is available by arrangement.

The Michael Cusack Centre
Michael Cusack was born in Carron, County Clare in 1847 and died in 1906. A fascinating and complex personality, his passion for Gaelic games was matched only by his love of the unique and beautiful Burren limestone landscape where he was born and raised. Cusack was also the model for “The Citizen” in James Joyce’s Ulysses. The project was conceived to celebrate the man and the association that he founded. The original homestead has been fully restored and a contemporary visitor centre developed nearby.
